Tired, Tired Babies

Wayne and I celebrated the big 8 year anniversary A L L weekend, which was fun and VERY romantic (don't worry, I'll keep that part to myself-hehehee). I had made plans a while back, but cancelled them all to spend the weekend with Wayne (he actually planned things)!!!

Friday evening, he took me to a nice restaurant, where we ate WAY too much food and enjoyed a glass of wine. The atmosphere was mostly romantic, outside of the group of gruff/rocker-looking guys that were seated next to us mid-way through dinner. They weren't too loud though, thank goodness. After dinner, we went to our favorite little dive for another drink (and to say "hi" to our favorite bartender). All hell broke loose with this terrible storm, and I got cold pretty fast, so we headed home.

Once we got home....Wayne got 500 phone calls, so our romantic night ended kind of abruptly. :)

Saturday morning, since I'm not being too stingy here, Wayne got up and went fishing. I lounged around the house, welcoming my purely vegan breakfast (I don't get those too often now). I finished breakfast, played with the pups for a few minutes and then got ready for Saturday (ritualistic) shopping. Wayne got home, cleaned up, and we left for a day of sunny weather and spending money!!!

We stopped at the pet store, the local sporting goods store, groceries and supplies, then headed back home. Wayne made us lunch, then told me he had another surprise for me (YAY). He pretty much made me "lazy" all day; he wouldn't let me do anything but relax. I got the royal treatment Saturday night, including a candlelight dinner and wine-all compliments of my husband! And after dinner, we curled up on the couch and watched a movie.

Sunday, we got up and took the pups for a walk. It was so beautiful outside, I didn't want to sit indoors (or even in our backyard, beautiful as it is). We harnessed and leashed-up the pups, grabbed a few bottles of water, and headed out to the office complex where I work. There are lots of trails and awesome sights out here....and I knew the pups would love it! We pull in, get the dogs and start our little adventure.

This is the first time, in a while, that I've felt like Wayne and I just met (we've been together for so long). He was his spunky self.....making me giggle and actually enjoying himself. The dogs were ecstatic to be outdoors, someplace new; poor Myles wouldn't stop running. I thought his little legs were going to fall off!

I know, we probably only walked for about 30 to 45 minutes, but around 25 into our walk, my female, Baby, started laying down. We'd be walking along, and she'd just stop and drop (almost simultaneously). It was so funny; I felt bad, but I couldn't stop laughing at her. Needless to say, I carried her the rest of the time we were out. The other, most-hilarious event of the morning was owed to Myles.

We rounded a building to head back to the car. This particular building is mostly windows (you know the kind....they're all reflective glass). We cut around and onto the sidewalk so the dogs can be in the shade, and then Myles sees his reflection, but to him, it's another handsome chihuahua who's come to steal his little "woman". He started barking, and his hair stood up....he looked like a little wild boar (for those of you who haven't met him). Wayne calmed him, but every time he'd forget and then catch his reflection, he'd start barking again-LOL.

The rest of the afternoon, we rode around on the back roads north of town, stopping by a friend's property to play by the river. We took the dogs around to the local nursery (plants, not babies), just to try to socialize them more.....they have been cooped up for the entire winter. All in all, it was a lazy day, but it was a great time!!!!

My poor little pups still haven't fully recovered from Sunday; they lie around acting like they've run a marathon. I think it was a little too much excitement for one day's exposure, but I had a great weekend and a WONDERFUL anniversary. I owe it all to my husband.....thank you Wayne, for more than you'll ever realize!

Happy Anniversary! 8 years is quite a milestone for the cutest couple I know. Congratulations! I look forward to seeing you both a lot more!

I wonder why some pets notice their reflections but others do not?
